What is Wildflower Village?

We are a core group of people who joined together to build a 24-home community designed after the Elder Cohousing Concept, and we are looking for the rest of our neighbors—maybe you!  We are adult empty-nesters and singles who are full of life and eager to share our talents, friendship and community with others age 50 and above.
We have a say in all aspects of our homes and neighborhood, and have selected land to build on in Duncanville, Texas (a cozy South Dallas suburb.) We have hired an exceptional team of award-winning professionals to design, build and landscape our community with “green living” as our objective.

What is the Elder Cohousing Concept?
Elder Cohousing is a return to community, a return to listening and open-hearted communication, and a return to the much-needed voice of the elders…It’s not about age—it’s about wisdom!

Why is your community idea any better than any other neighborhood, condo, apartment, etc?
For all the reasons we listed on our main page and more—The point is to have a sense of security, know our neighbors, provide social cohesion as we grow older, have the motivation to care for ourselves, have a sense of identity, predictability, purpose and self-worth, and to help each other out with emotional, informational, and material support.
All of the standard or status-quo ways of living in these modern times offers some or very few of these factors, but living in Wildflower Village and similar cohousing communities is the way to have them all during our older years.

What is expected of me if I decide to be a part of your community?
That is up to you.  How about coming to some of our meetings to see how we do things?  It’s free to come and visit.  We have various levels of membership to accommodate the very curious (associate) all the way up to the “I’m ready to have a voice in the decisions” (full member) participant.
